bying a bmw

hello guys, im thinking of bying a 96 or 97 bmw 328ic convertible, what do you guys suggest, is there a big difference between the 2 years other than the power top on the 97, i have been doing some research lately and like to learn as much as i can about bmw's, also im thinking of bying an auto, how do these autos hold up , is the 5 speed much faster than the auto, can you make the auto a little faster if i ever want to? thanks guys.

I think that you will regret getting the slush box. It is possible to get a chip and make it a little better but BMWs are more fun stick, especially with the top down.

autos are usually slower then standard shift. about 99.9% of the time they are. there isnt much different btw the 2 yrs. if you want a power roof. then get the 97 or later.

ok does the 328i convertible have the same sport suspension as the 328is , i was told that all the 328i convertibles have the same suspension as the 328is, is this true. also why some bmw's have the bottom painted the same as the color of the car and some are dark grey or black ( bottom skirts),is this an option? and some 328ic ive seen have 4 headrests, and some only on the front 2 seats, how come. thank you for any replies that might help me make a decision in buying my bimmer.
