Just wondering where you guys buy your bmw parts from, and do you buy used/new or would it depend on what you need replacing. UK sites as thats where im from.

Do you have any online sites that you would recommend at all, or if a well-known place anywhere to visit shop wise that is, or do you visit local dealers.

Also i know you guys dont really rate the 316/318's but would you say these parts are pretty common or easy to get hold of secondhand/brandnew? I was looking around recently and find alot of sites do 318i or the other models but not many on 318is or 316's. Just wondered thats all.

I say this because i was looking at buying a 316i Coupe (think thats a E36/2 model). I was mainly looking into this because i want to keep insurance down and gettin insured on anythin more then a 318 would be a pointless waste of money (only 20y/old).
I posted a while back about buying a bmw, and decided to save more so i could get a better one. Im now looking to buy one and ive seen a couple 316i Coupes (97/98) about with about ~60/70k mileage so that seems pretty good, look well looked after, and on a 316, insurance seems managable which would leave me more money for mods/cosmetics for the car and to generally work on it n tweak it etc. For these in the uk im looking at around 3-4000 for the car, possible to 5000 if the car was worth it. Then extras on mods etc.

Regarding the 316 issue, would most moddin be a possibilty. I know that really depends on wat i want to do but things like chip, turbo/super charge??? etc, things like standard changes like exhaust and body kit/alloys would work cos i take it the body is the same style as the 318? So general kist like //M3 engines or bodykit would fit right? I think someone here put an Aero Kit on a 318is if i remember.
Also i plan on keeping this car till its end and then upgrade to a greater bm model so i plan for a long time with it, so thats why i asked about the buying parts re:316/318's, so further down the line i can still easily find them.

Any help greatly appreciated or any pointers to if im goin wrong or watever. Have learnt lots about taking care of a car from reading this site, and general workings of a car. Great site of knowledge. Thanks.

aftermarket parts are alot less common for 318s than any of the other 6 cylinders. there are still some good stuff u can find tho like exhausts, chips, intakes, and even a supercharger. i havent seen anything that specifically says its for a 316 but im pretty sure that 318 and 316 parts can be, for the most part, the same since they are both the only 4 cylinders. sorry, i know alot of good aftermarket parts websites but none for the UK
