My exhaust has been very stinky lately. I figured it was the catalytic converter, so I brought it to the shop. They said it was running alright. So anyway, they said it might be the gas I am buying, like the actual place I am buying it from. I buy Premium 91 everytime, does it matter which place I buy it from?
hahahhah yes try going to anouther station to fill up for the next couple of tanks......if the smell doesnt go away u can have a number of diff problems
Unless you've changed your timings or anything technical to your engine, you only need 89 (mid grade)(for M52 OBDII engines at least) for your engine, Otherwise, you just paying more for a fuel that resists combustion at higher pressure levels.
"Premium" is a marketing term so they can get you to buy the more expensive gas so they can gain more profit.
If you have a car that requires a high octane, chances are, you have some extra cash to spend on your car to get it to do that (or it's a high preformance car from the factory= big bucks) so they can screw a few extra cents a gallon out of you and they figure you wont mind. And you dont :P
Doesnt it say "premium fuel only " on your fuel door and on the cluster? It does on mine. Should I just put 87 in my car? Its a 92 325i, I dont have vanos though so maybe I need 93?
You can get 93 just about everywhere here in Arkansas. Some places have 91 instead. I get 91 when I can. I don't think I need 93. My 328i is OBDC II right? Meaning I can go with 89??? (The manual suggests nothing lower than 91 though)
