buying fog lights for my e36 coupe, do i really need to shop around - BMW Forum

1. should i really get oem?

2. whats the clears? are u suppose to get clear fogs if u have clear everything else?

3. just buy the cheapest one i can find?

I've had the same problem and yet to buy. umnitza.com got zkw, from what I hear they are better than OEM, for 58 bucks per side. Thats the cheapest for zkw's. they also have a crystal clear set for 75 bucks for the set. Compare that with autotechnic.net which has OEMs at $58 (same as umnitza.com's ZKWs). Bimmerworld.com and Autowerks.com got OEM fogs for about $60 per side. Autowerks.com got ZKWs for $77 per side. Bavauto.com (bavarian autosport) got OEM's at $60 per side. Or if your E36 never came with fog lights (just a possibility) than bavauto got a fog light kit for $180. That's all nice and stuff but I'm still deciding on bulbs, Xenon that is. I think bimmian.com has got the best right now as far as what I've looked at. But i don't know how they last. Also they got a Xenon interior light bulb set that is tempting at $60 for sedans and less for coupes. Hope this helps.

say you're in the whole 'your e36 never came with fog lights' boat, how hard is it to install everything, including the wireing, switch, brackets... thnx

hey WarNox...got any better pix of your spoiler. Was it aftermarket or stock? If its aftermarket, what kind? Also I'm jealous. Your car looks better than mine. That and you live in New Zealand. Always wanted to visit.

even if the car didnt come with fog lights, im pretty sure all the wiring is there.

when these things come off the plants, they are all wired for all the options, however some cars have the options and some dont....

at least thats the way it was with the E30's

my car never came pre wired.. so i bought depo crystal clear foglights with wireing harness and switch.. and brakets, and bulbs for like 80 bucks...

one of my buddies wired it up for me, since i suck with wireing...

i'll post a pic of my spoiler later tday for u haha its stock. new zealand sucks with bmw's really, and that the highest legal speed limit is 100km/h (60mph).

apart from looking in the front bumper for hanging loose wires for fogs (which i do not have), how else could i tell if the car is pre-wired?

I think you can buy the lens for your fog lights but I also think that they are just as expensive as the entire fog light assembly. www.autowerks.com in their OEM section has the lens and mirror assembly for 70 bucks per side. same thing at www.pelicanparts.com. Some how I think my online shopping is more OCD than stereotypical women's shoe shopping.
