Hello list
I am new here, so please bear with me.
I currently own a 1987 325i, with 130,000 miles, and going strong. I have an opportunity to purchase a 96 318i, with 70,000 miles on it. The owner is asking about $5000.00 CDN less than market value here in BC Canada.
The history on the car is as follows: Total loss according to the Insurance company in Dec 2003. Not insured since then. According to him: He bought it from the insurance co at an auction, had it fixed and now is trying to make some money. He said that the damage was not major, hood, left fender, both marker lights, bumper, and the cowl under the bumper were replaced. he said there was no structural damge to the car, just body, and cosmetic.
The car feels and looks mint, i drove it for a little while, have not had it past 35mph yet, going for another drive tomorrow to take it up tp speed.
All the body work lines up, all the paint is perfectly matched, no overspray or any other signs of crappy body work.
If it seems all good what do you guys think? Risk it or not?

What else should I look for?

Uh, I don't know. You never can be sure. My dad got a 2002 mercedes V8 E430 for with 13,000 miles for $30,000. It had been totaled but fixed. It was worth 50,000. It was awesome, no problems. But you never know....

welcome to BMW-forums, if i were you id get that car in the air, and check the frame , for any re-weilds and bent rails, etc etc.
