button under gas?!

when i floor it and that button under the gas pedel what is that? it clicks and one time i was messing around and it was on cruz i pressed it and my car freaked for 3 secs what happend? n what is that crazy biznes

I don't know what button is under the gas pedal. The only thing I know of under there is the pedal stop...its a long bolt that doesn't let the gas pedal actually hit the floor. It sits about 2 and a half inches off the floor or so...anyone else know if there is a button????

Kickdown pedal, lets the ECU know that your going WOT and tells the automatic transmission downshift (if nessicary) and run the engine as hard as it can to produce the most ammount of forward thrust.
were you in park when you pressed it? what do you mean freak out? (revv like crazy?)

On autos it is the kickdown switch and the diag button, on manuals its just the diag button.

reved high i liked it but then a light came on something about transmition i think.. its like a (!)with dots surrounding it so its not bad if that happends? just wondring cuz it was REALY weridddddddddddddd

you would just loose your pedal's dynamic range. (the range of motion in throttle before the engine computer decides to go full blast)

I don't know about this diag stuff on the manuals....

pressing the button 5 times within 3 seconds of turning the car to run puts the car in diagnostic mode, regardless of tranny.

on OBD1 cars you use this trick to reveal your fault code if you presently have one, and also if you dont have one. i think theres something in the FAQ forum on how to get your own fault codes and the trick on how to do it. give it a read

yeah i was wondering about that becuase i clicked it a whole bunch and that light came off, but then it went away again, freaked me out for a while!
