Burning Smell

Let me start by saying that my car is a piece of crap...

ok, now that we got that out of the way maybe you can help my once abused 1991 320i get nurtured back to life...

anyway the car starts just fine, runs just fine, but when i turn off the ignition (the car is in first gear, with the clutch in)(although i have tried it with the car in neutral, to no avail) i always smell burning, i haven't tried to research it yet because i have to go to work...can anyone help?

Have you tried turning the engine off with the trans in neutral and once stopped, then put it in first if you must??. If that doesn't produce the smell, that's what I would do in the future. Just a sequence issue. Good luck.
