I just noticed a burning rubber smell and I cant figure it out. Breaks and wheels are not hot after driving. If I had to pipoint it it seems stronger on the driver side rear where the muffler is. It is not the standrd rotten egg smell I usually get. Definetly not under the hood.

5 Speed...I hope its not the clutch...it does not seem to be slipping...
Nah - the clutch smells like your brake pads when you really get on them.
Honestly have no idea - can't think of why rubber would be burning back there. Unless it's the infamous fires that are caused by the wires going to the trunk fraying - but I'd think that would be a lot more apparent.
my bro just got a rebuilt transmission and it smells like that after driving it. yeah it'd be good to know whats going on with the smell. if you find it, please post your findings. -Thanks
Some vehicles have a rubber/eurothane donut flange gasket which connects parts of the exhaust system. If it gets loose or exposed directly to the exhaust, it can start to slowly melt making a burning rubber smell. I have smelled it once before when i was running my car really hard, but im not completely sure if that was the problem.

AMG can't build an NA engine that can compete with M engines, so they stick in a supercharger and say their cars are faster. BMW could simply do the same, but they don't out of principle.</span>

Whatever it is, THATS BAD. Mine dosn't do that. All the manual button does is tell the TCU to not automaticaly shift gears and go into the gear you tell it to. It wont downshift if it will put the engine near redline, it dosn't turn on any mechanical device or anything.
