Brown Smudge Marks On Both Side Mirrors - BMW Forum

anyone else get this on their side mirrors?

it looks like dirty water marks running "up" the mirror. on closer inspection, the brown marks are behind the glass. not sure how it came there, i noticed it after i got back from vacation.

anything i can use to clean this off? i'll try to get pics later on today.

i hope its not rust! then u might have a lil problem.. otherwise.. just get some glass polish!

how do you figure rust would be a problem in the mirror housing?

I have the same problem in my driver's side mirror. You can get replacement mirros (not the whole fixture, just the glass) at bavauto.com

very common, its water that got behind the film thats on the glass. you need to replace the glass, there is no other way that im aware of.
