Broken Bonnet Cable - Help! - BMW Forum

Hi,
New to forum but I hope someone can help. My 1998 323i has a broken bonnet cable on the driver's side. Got a new one from the local scrapyard and have now removed the old cable, but can't thread through the new one. Think I'll have to resort to a garage

As it's a real pain to open the bonnet if the catch is closed with no cable, is it OK to drive if the latch is on but the bonnet isn't fully pressed down? So it's popped open, but not loose? (If that makes sense!)

Its not a good idea to drive with the bonnet like this, if you go over a large bump it can dislodged the catch and the bonnet will fly up, disaster!!!, Ive had it happen.
