brakes squeaking - BMW Forum

last weekend i installed cross-drilled rotors to my fronts and tried to install the rears but they were to big and were meant for a 328. are the 328 rotors the same size as m3 rotors? if so would the m3 caliper mounts fit the 323is.i also installed new brake pads to the front and rear and now it squeaks when ever i brake. would the sensors be a problem? any advice would help.

what car do you have first of all. secondly what type of pads did you put on. just so you know lots of aftermarket upgraded pads squeek, its very common only because they are so performance oriented the blend they use has a tendency to squeel. id suggest taking the car up to about 40 and braking hard. see if you cant burnish the pads a bit better.

Did you use any anti-squeal compound?

my car is a 1999 323is. i've tried going about 50 and then slammed on the brakes and still there's a squeal. i didn't use any anti squeal compound.

There's your explanation. Anti squeal compound prevents squeal. That is what I used -- no squeal at all.
