Brake lights don't work

Greetings

1995 e36 325i

Brake lights don't work and OBC reports brake light circuit error.
Checked fuses and bulbs.
Suspect brake swith on the pedal though its active since I can shift transmission out of park.
checked wires near trunklid with nothing frayed or broken

would switch still be suspect though there is some symptoms of a closed circuit?

any thoughts would be considered..

thanks

eddie

Yes.......the switch is commonly known to be the culprit! What happens is, just the slightest break in continuity will trip OBC.

I had to replace the brake switch, after a couple of months of owning my E36.....

As I suspected

I replaced a couple of these switches on my land rover though it would fail completely. (couldn't shift out of park).
thanks for the attachment. I suspected I would break it to remove it, though I will wait till I have the replacement in hand...

again.. thanks for the reply
