brake light system failure light?

shows on the obc sometimes, turn the car off and it clears, it might come right back on or stay off for weeks! all lights are working even when the light is on so it's just sort of an anoyance! thanks for any help! i am new to the site and to bmw!

Try swapping your bulbs out for some new ones; sometimes even a slight bit of corrosion on the bulbs might trigger the warnings even though it isn't actually enough to stop it from working.

That or it could be the brake light switch failing.

After checking all your bulbs.......& if they are ok, then most likely the brake switch is faulty.
