brake light circuit failure - BMW Forum

.... yet I still have brake lights.
Has this happened to any of you before? I looked through the owners manual. Checked the fuses. All the bulbs are good.

mine has been goin off sayin that all tha time since i bought it 2 years ago, its supposed to mean that the circuit has blown out, but ive noticed it only happens to me when I start the car with the breaks depressed or I hit the breaks hard.

yeah, just have to buy a new switch. I think I paid $15 for mine.. It goes on the pedal assembly above the brake pedal.

... use only Oem bulbs some cheap replacements dont have the proper resistance...
My 635 went threw that...

So, a brake pedal switch will fix it? Did you buy form a dealer or order it online? If that'll fix it, I'll order it first thing tomorrow.

Hi, here is a link to help you with your brake light circuit failure.......most of the time it is the brake switch when everything else checks out ok, but sometimes you could have an aftermarket bulb that does not make good contact in the light socket, but lights & that slight loss in continuity is enough to give you that B L C F warning. So make sure you have clean & solid contact between the bulbs & sockets....
