every now and then for the past couple of days, me check light comes on with the message saying brake light circuit. i checked the brake lights and it works fine. does this have anything to do with the fuses. and if so what do i do. the manual doesnt help that much. thanks...
If you do a search, you will find that this is a rrecurring problem with the E36 series. My 328i did it when I first bought it a year ago and every now and then I see it. But do a search because there is a solution to your problem.

It does, because there are 2 different brake switches. One with 4 pins, one with 2. That's the common point of failure in the brake light circuit.
Damn, that's gonna be a pain in the rear to do, but it's needed
