My Brake disc/pad warning light has come on, on my dash-display...

I am wondering whether I need to change the pads this weekend, or will it be alright if I leave it a couple of weeks?

Also, do I need to change the discs at the same time as the pads..... my car is a 328i

Should I just change them for normal/stock discs/pads, or should i upgrade them?

How many miles on the car? You will need a new sensor or sensors (left front/right rear) but if you have no indication of disc warpage (vibration through brake pedal when braking) I would leve the discs alone (unless you want to replace them and they are approaching 100,000 miles). If you do replace them, replace the hold down screws as well.

the car has 62200 miles on the clock, and i've probably done about 40miles since the light came on.

Do I need to change the pads now - before I do too many more miles?.... or will it be ok for a couple of weeks (approx. 400 miles - got an airport trip to do aswell - down the highway/motorway).

Also sometimes during heavy braking it feels like the pedal is pumping back at me.

You have time before the change. I have a 328i also. Usually . once that light illuminates, it is recommended that the sensor be changed as well.
