today I finished my M50 swap......7 hours total.... most of that time building the hose kit.....it took about 4 hours from scratch....sizing it up, test fitting that bigger manifold, very hard to install & remove.... yes, it would have been easier to buy the kit from M50manifold.com. It probably would have been a 2 hour deal, instead of 4 hours . Also, I had to fabricate a throttle body plate from a piece of aluminum....so 4 hours on Saturday, 2 hours today, installing the manifold, throttle body, fuel rail & fuel rail cover, I used the original m52 lower manifol brackets & just modified them, so the oil crank vent, ICV & oil dip stick all bolted up to there original positions.....I had to buy a new throttle body Boot......the old one was very fragile & dry....be very careful to inspect the boot, because you can tear it very easily....I ended up installing the manifold temp. sensor through my CAI heat shield, the hole was already there, just wrapped the sensor with some high quality insulating foam....& stuffed it in.
So now about the scare, I get everything together, very nervously get in my car........turn the key......the engine starts, backfires, sputters, & then.......the CHECK ENGINE light comes on! Very confused, I shut the engine off.....I know I did everything correctly....so I check all my connections, everything checks OK! Still confused, I start the car again...& presto it's running like a charm .... I guess it's true, the DME has to adjust....Took it for spin & wow! I noticed the difference right away, so the M50 Swap is well worth it, it just compliments the other engine upgrades I have done.... CAI & Conforti shark injector!!!

wow, your car is looking so frikking good... it makes me happy in my pants
what's next for mods? Or is there actually anything left to mod?

Thanks denyo......I am happy too, it feels good, because I did all the work myself. As for what's next..... maybe a brembo brake kit....I want to do the sways, & upgrade the sound system. This might not be until the spring of 2009! Unless, you want to wire me sum cash.....

Cool deal man. Man, I am having second thoughts... maybe I don't want to sell my E36....
Will you follow with underdrive pulleys? By the way, does it really feel like you are lacking some of the low-end torque?
Hey.....I am sorry about that drz, I found one on ebay a little cheaper kind of spur of the moment....as far as low-end torque loss, not really, they say if you install the software {Conforti Shark Injector} you don't lose much low-end torque.....It definitely feels stronger....just put it this way, after I put the CAI in, I felt a slight difference, next the shark injector, again only a slight difference, but when I did the m50 mani swap It was a big difference.....I guess they kind of all work together....check this link out....

Idles perfect.....As for it being a Beast, its almost there......S/C would really transform it to Beast status...but I am very happy with all the gains I've accomplished through these 3 fairly easy upgrades....{CAI, Conforti Shark Inj. & M50 manifold Swap}
