Eeeeerrrmm....OBC Problem

My OBC (On Board Computer) input unit doesn't seem to work except for the time display window. On this subject I haven't got a clue and I have no idea of the BMW Part Number but it seems to be the most basic OBC model with:

2 x display screens (Main + Time)
1 row of 7 buttons which are (left to right):
Temp, Degrees C & Degrees F, HR/DAT, MEMO, SET, h/DAT, min/DAT.

On the main screen, if I look very closely, there seem to be very faint but unreadable letters/numbers. The time screen shows the time OK in bright orange though.

There's no steering column control for the unit.

How can I check this out...AND...if necessary, where can I obtain a replacement and how much should I expect to pay?

Advice will be grapefuitly received.

NOTE: I am in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
