I have a 1995 325i sedan, and my obc seems to be working properly - besides the screen. I posted something to this extent before and was told I needed a new backlight for the screen.

I am about to go purchase this, but I am now wondering if this is what is needed? The thing is, the clock screen on the obc lights up perfectly. The only part that does not is the screen to the left of the clock that displays the information. Are these two seperate lighting bulbs? If not than this cannot be the problem because as I said the clock lights up fine. If they are than I will go purchase the bulb immediately.

Also, can someone give me the exact part name so I know what I'm asking for. Maybe even the part number if possible?

I couldn't tell you what type of bulb to get, but I can tell you there are at least 4 different bulbs in that thing. I am quite sure because my computer lights up fine except once in a while the center of the screen will be a shade darker. If I tap the dash board near my obc, it will make the connection and then light back up to normal. Just to let you know, it's more than one bulb for sure.

bavauto has the backlights for the OBC

the clock light is seperated from the rest of the OBC. My clock light was out but switched with another light and things were fine then. just my main dispaly is dim on one side until I tap it a bit much like camnipotent...

the best thing to do is take out the OBC and remove the light, and bring that to the parts counter.

I have a similar issue with my OBC in my 92' 320i. The backlighting is fine, its just the LCD numerals or pixels seem to be blown because the letters are all segmented and unreadable in the daytime. At nite its totally fine, all but a bit dim were the numerals are. Is that a bulb issue or a bad LCD?

when the letters and numbers are pixelated its an LCD problem. When it can't be read except in certain lighting and at certain angles, its the bulb.

second to that....

got my clock lighted but the outside temp info does not. i pulled the thing out and exchanged the bulbs, then i found out that it was bulb...

i believe it cost just a little over a dollar per piece.
