BMW first car q's

Hey, new to the forums, not sure if this is in the right place but w/e. Im getting a job over the summer and im hopping to start saving for a car. Ive been looking at used 3 series bmws for under 10000usd and most of them have 85-140k miles. And i was just curious how long does a bmw engine last? Because i know im going to be modding it(no not just and air filter and exaust, new headers valves, etc) and replacing parts when i get it. Plus my dad use to be a machanic so he can fix any problem that comes about.

thanks,
GM

They will run well for a very long time if well cared for. My car has over 191k and I have no powertrain issues whatsoever.
