bmw death rattle

hi guys,

i heard this wierd sound from my transmission or mayb drive train. see if u get the sound as well.

put the car in 1st gear and go down a slope. u dont accelerate, and dont engage clutch. when the RPM is somewhere between 1000 to 2000 u will hear a "scary" rattling noise.

i did some google search and found this link. to summarise the link - they say it is ok and NOT a problem.

that post is horribly hard to read (the one that you put a link up to). I have never heard this noise with my car. I'll poke around and see if I can find anything and if I think about it next time I'm driving I'll see if mine makes the same noise.

i have something similar to this its more like a buzzing noise, and ive heard its not harmfull, however i have no explaination

I have exactly the same noise, happens at around 1800-3000 revs.
I have a E36 318is and the last service mech. said it was the catalytic converter?!
It sure is annoying as hell!
