BMW 318i 92Model E36 Starting Problems

Hi i was just wondering what could be the problem when my car is kicking over, when starting it up.

Sometimes when i start the car up it will keep trying to kick over and over again. Then when i back off and try again without touching the accelerator it will do the same thing again try to start up then go back to "reds". The only way i can start the car up is by applying the accellerator fully to kick it over; like starting a carborator engine.

I have changed the spark plugs to the high quality ones irridium, changed fuel filter. I am not sure what this could be.

It only happens sometimes and happens all over the place, just after i have turned the car on or even if i leave the car off for 10hrs, but sometimes again if i have had the car off for a day it will start up normally. It only happns sometimes but i cant seem to find the problem. And when it does start up it has a rough idle and the lights dim and after about 30 sec its normall.

I thourght it might be the battery as sometimes when i start off to drive the battry light stays on and then when i speed up the battery light turns off.

Thanks

maybe a dirty fuel injectors?

did you do all the maintenance including cleaning your idle control valve?

my car also coughing a little bit in the mornings and i haven't found the solution yet..

check your battery voltage, then possibly bring your car for a fuel system cleaning...

maybe that would help.

what about oxygen sensor and air mass flow sensors?
can you also hear the engine reving/vibrating wildly when you are in idle and you turn the AC on or power the windows all the way up?
