BMW 318 Starting Problems any ideas? - BMW Forum

I have a 1994 BMW 318i, i have starting problems, it wont start and sometimes it starts all the sudden, the car turns over but just wont start, battery is good, alternator is good, i am thinking maybe the Distributor Cap is bad, so anyone know where that is located ? or if you guys have any other ideas why is that happening?
the car has just over 130k, other than starting problem, the car works very well. any ideas would be appriciated,

BIMEERFEEL do you know where the Distributor Cap is located on 318i bmw?

just follow your plug wires. did they not use coils on this model?

Yeah, there's no distributor cap. They use a distributorless ignition with individual coils, although on the four-banger a 4-coil linear-grouping mounted on the passenger side has 4 spark-plug leads running around to the back of the engine cover, then follows a raceway under the cover to the individual plugs.

In that bimmerforum post I mentioned a cam sensor, so did the OP. He said he'd changed his of course... that may very well be your problem; but have you pulled any codes? Is your Check Engine Light (CEL) on?
