blower motor not running

Hello and any help here would be appreciated. I have a 1995 325is. When I first got the car, the heater blower motor switch would only work in 2 positions, low and high, the variable speed never worked. Now I have no air blowing at all, and the heated seats are nice in the winter, but in Iowa, I will need more than that to get by without freezing. Can anyone offer a hand as to what steps I should take to resolve this problem? I am going to start by checking the fuses and relays, from there, seems as though many are having problems with the blower resistor. I have an analog system, and the sooner I can make repairs the better. Thank you very much in advance for any help!

Hello, I have a '94 318i and the blower motor quick working. I started by checking that power was getting where is was suppose to. All seemed to checkout. I replaced the resistor which did not help. In the end the problem was the blower motor bearings were worn out and sticking. I tested this 1st by direct wiring the motor and giving it a nudge and it would work but only with help to start turning. Replaced blower motor (not an easy job) and all is well.
