How do I get to the blower motor? I need to fix that annoying chirping noise. It has pissed me off enough now that I want to go in and fix it. If you have had this problem, let me know what you did to stop it from chirping. Thanks.

I need to know the same thing because...well, mine used to chirp...now it only blows on high and I have to replace the Final Stage Unit...I ordered it from Bavauto and of course its on backorder...in the meantime I have to figure out the best way to get back behind the dash there...
Someone mentioned something about to the right of the steering wheel but..I didn't get that

Yeah, that might have been me. For my $0.01 (my opinion isn't really worth $0.02) My '98 328 just had its fan resister replaced and I watched as the mechanic changed it out. He mentioned it was next to the fan. Bear in mind I am no expert nor do I really know the AC system on my bimmer but this is what I observed. The mechanic tried accessing the resister from under the hood but it was too tight. He then tried from under the steering wheel. He removed the panel under the dash and was able to access the resister from there easily. It was just to right of the steering wheel. He showed me the resister and the fan assembly when he was under there. He didn't need deal with fan when changing out the resister so can't help you there. Hope that helps.
In response to your original question, I know for a FACT, because I have one, that the Haynes manual for e36's have a procedure to r & r the blower motor from inside the engine compartment.
Mine chirps when its cold out, so I bought the manual. Beg, borrow or steal $14.95 and run to AutoZone to pick one up. I would love to scan them in for ya, but alas, I have no scanner.
Good luck.

Thats strange...I just received the Bentley I bought from Bavauto and it says to R & R the blower motor it is from outside the car...by the bottom of the windshield...
yes inside the engine compartment, well technically you have to open the hood to get to the grill that covers that area.... so while maybe not technically under the hood, since you have to open the hood it is in all fairness under the hood....lol
