big problem

when i start my car, the rpm's will go really low and most of the time stall, but if the car doesnt stall, the rpm's stay at about 250 or 300. i really need to get this fixed. could it be the fuel filter?

Probably not...I don't remember what the peice is called, but there is an electrical part that tells your motor to keep the rpm's above a certain level, around 600 on most e36's, and it sounds like that is malfunctioning. I had the same problem on my 300zx...I just can't remember what the part is called...

yeah when the plug on the back of your intake system is off itll start and then die right away, atleast on the m42 engine not sure about the others i think its like a temp sens or something
