I am a new owner of a 1997 318is. Over the last few days, I started hearing
3 soft beeping sounds coming from the bottom left (driver's side) of the dash.
Anyone know what that is?

This is a stick shift model.

Heard it once while backing out the car from the driveway.
Another time just driving down the street.

Couldn't find anything in the user's manual.

Any info is appreciated.

Maybe the last owner left his beeper after he worked in the dash
Sorry I couldn't help.

it is probably the hour chime. if the hourly beep(3 soft beeps from the speakers i think) is turned on on the computer (the dash part with the clock and temp reading). press the memo botton to turn it off. later and hope this helps

you are most likely hearing the "holy shit its cold look out for ice" warning.

At 38 degrees the car sounds an alert by signaling like that.
