bad vibration - BMW Forum

there's a little vibration coming from the engine. only when the engine is cold though. any ideas?

hmm is it really noticeable? I think that might be normal, my car seemes to vibrate a tiny bit when its cold.

is it related to the idling speeds? like is it idling funny at all? cause if it is it might be your icv. might just need to clean it out. theres a diy for this.

the engine mounts are a possibility, however, if it were the engine mounts wouldn't it cause vibrations all of the time, not just when it is first started/warming up?

True, but I think it depends how bad they are.

On really cold starts, like after the car has sat during the week and I am bringing it out for the weekend, I will get a little vibration. If it is really bad and happens everytime, I would diagnose it a little more.

And as you said with the ICV, the car won't vibrate it will just hunt for an idle.

haha, good points, but with the icv problem the car will vibrate when the idling gets unstably low and work itself out as the idling becomes stable.

i don't notice any vibrations coming from my so its hard to diagnose, but those two are possible causes.

Well if it was idling under like 500 or so, then yes some vibration mght occur

my car runs weird till it get warmed up.its normal. I dont know how serious your situation is though. Might be somthing to get checked out.
