Backup Light And Brake Pad Sensors Q

two problems:

1. does anyone have any suggestion on how to remove the backup light switch on a 96 318I? i tried a socket but its not deep enough to reach the hex because of the protruding wire socket. tried the sparkplug socket, its deep enough but too long for a cramped area, i can't slide the wrench into it.

2. also, do you guys have any guess why the brake pad sensor indicator on my cluster doesnt light up when i start my car?

I dont think the light is supposed to. Did it at one time? I don't pay attention to my lights...it may come on.

no it did not.... although i've read from someone in this forum saying that it should come on like other check lights in the instrument cluster.

if he's wrong then i'm probably fine.

as for the backup light switch, i still have to find ways to take it off. its on the driver side of the tranny. any suggestion how to do this?

did you try a flare wrench?

The brake light should come on as ALL lights on the dash. They go out when all is ok after startup.
