Hey guys
I did not want a CAI which would mount behind the front bumper and I would have to move the horn and stuff. I found this one which has a shorter pipe, with a heatshield and fits completely in the open area created by removing the airbox in the engine, i.e. all on top.
Does anyone know if this is a good company or if it matters ? ohh ya also the filter is made by B&B and is claimed to be better then K&N.
the system can be found at: http://www.globalautoshop.com/accessories/...e/bmw_index.htm
its the first system on the page.
thanks guys

can you show me? I'm interested as well, that B&B intake system didn't seem too expensive to me

I'd say get a cheapo pipe off Ebay for 20 bucks, slap a K&N on it and build your own heat sheild. Nice and cheap, or just take the baffle out, it sounds a little louder without it.

hey
the link is : http://www.globalautoshop.com/accessories/...e/bmw_index.htm
yah I thought its a relatively cheap one as well.
I am not really up for building my own one as of now , but are the cheapers ones gonna be a little worse off or they all work just the same ?
for example...this one... http://www.globalautoshop.com/accessories/...e/bmw_index.htm
its really cheap and says its esp made for e36....or does anyone else know the link to get relatively cheap good ones ? or the name ?
also is B&B a reputable brand ?
thanks

Go for the ebay ones. Look for one with a place to mount your temp sensor from the airbox. And hopefully one with a heatsheild. But the headsheilds get expensive so I'd recomend atleast trying it yourself or having a friend do it.

"Look for one with a place to mount your temp sensor from the airbox" I-- Dont all of the CAI's take care of that ? I dont really know where the temp sensor is ....I know one enf goes into the MAF sensor and the other end is where the snorkel comes in.
So you say go for this one over the B&B : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=38634
I dont wanna move my horn and stuff to mount these longer ones, and plus this one doest have a heatshield.

That one is too long. The temp sensor I'm talking about goes into the back of the airbox. If you want you can just zip tie it out of the way. Do you just want the CAI sound? It would just be more cost effective and easier to debaffled and put in a drop in green or k&n.

hey kevin
I debaffled my box just 2 days ago and I took out the tube which ran from the snokel to the air filter so basically now the air filter is getting air through a hole the size of the snorkel tube.
Some people mentioned having a second baffle to remove but I could not find anything else to remove.
Should I just put a K&N or green air and that should be good enough ?
Well I kinda wanted the smooth roaring sound, but also a performance increase maybe ? Although my shark injector is on the way and that should be good for now...
wha do u recommend ?
thanks again

There's a couple on ebay with a K&N filter. I'd get that. But you'll probably have fitment issues from most of the ones off ebay that are like 20 or 30 bucks. Then you'd have to buy a separate heat sheild.
You're really just going to have to buy one and find out. It doesn't seem like that metal housing around the filter is going to work as a heatsheild, it will probably restrict airflow more.

I'm not sure if the 325 and 328 intakes are interchangable. You'll have to ask someone else. Just do what Frank did. That looks like an ebay intake with a homemade heat sheild. Somebody should do a good DIY.
