automatic transmission

Got a problem. I have a 93 325 sedan. My automatic transmission shifts erratically when in "D". If i am in "3" it shifts fine and i can upshift to "D" with not problem. When in "D" sometimes second gear gets stuck and the engine just over reves. On someones advise I have already changed the voltage regulator and the transmission computer. The car has 55,000 on it and I just got it. Any help I would love. Thanks, Ray

I assume that you have checked the tranny fluid level with the car on correct?

i do not have a filler tube on the transmission. It does overflow when I added it from underneath but I have no idea if the correct amount is in there.

when was the last time that you changed the fluid?

I forgot how much of a problem it really is to check the level. I would take it some where that knows BMWs, doesn't have to be the stealership, and get them to check the fluid and maybe change it if it's dirty. If that doesn't fix it then you can start running into all kinds of other potentially serious/expensive problems. So as always start with the basics and work your way up.
