Automatic Locks

My diver's side lock mechanism has been screwing up. I can manually lock it (thus locking the rest of them) but manually locking the passenger side or trunk has no effect on it. It decides to work SOMETIMES. Like, on occasion, I can actually set my car alarm and the thing will lock (once again, only a problem on my driver's side). What. The. Hell?!

Maybe it's a loose connection on the driver door lock that would be irrelevant when you manually lock it from there.
