michgrad85 is an unknown quantity at this point
I just bought car...top does not work...I checked both motors...ok. I synchronized motors ok. Are there some relays to check out...nothing happens when I try to open or close top...any ideas?

I've noticed on mine that it occassionally needs a manual-boost after it has sat for a while. Mine is a 94, and if I put my hand in the middle (on the latch) and push gently but firmly up, the system kicks in and starts moving on it's own after that.

Less than ideal, and next summer I'll have a shop look at it, but for now it's "good enough" to get me through the winter.

mk3jetta is on a distinguished road
my moms 328ic does the same thing motors and all worked perfectly fine check the sensor in the trunk latch it may sound ghetto but i just taped the sensor shut and the top works fine now
