Auto Transmission Oil Change - BMW Forum

328i / 96 / 105Km

I've never changed trans oil. Manual says it's life time warrenty.
Do I need to change or it's really a life time trans. There's no leak or anything but just wondering.

Good question my car has 120k and I doubt it has ever been changed. In other cars I think it is around 60k so i'm not sure.

To answer your question, though BMW says it is a "lifetime warranty"
in my opinion, it is prudent to change the filter and fluid around 100K miles, if not sooner. When I changed on my '97 328i recently, the
original fluid looked fine. I consider changing the [transmission] filter and fluid as an insurance... relatively cheap insurance.

If you'd like to keep your car for a long time, it's a good idea to change.
