Hey guys, i was wondering i have a 325ia and is there a way to improve launch?
All i get is the brake-torque technique but it wont go higher than 2000rpm.
Is there a way to improve it? like chip or mods or anything? (and dont say auto to tranny swap though haha lol )
Not really and there's a reason for that. The fact of the matter is there really is no upgrades you can do to the original automatic transmissions in these cars. You're just going to have to make do with the 2000RPM brake torque method...
HUummm.. = that sucks.... but its cool. At least now i know. I was researching for a while and couldnt find anything. Great thankss man..
The only company that makes software for the transmissions is Dinan (not sure if they have anything for the E36 though) and I just remembered that, but it won't help you getting off the line any faster and it's overpriced for what it is.

True, they have it, and it IS overpriced. 199$ hehehehe.

hahahha its not slow at all, its a great car, it is slow compared to ///M but, still for a daily car, its really fast at my point of view, and it has more space than mine.... i wish i had one of these. and the wheels, the paiting, it looks amazing!!!! eibach sport springs? or m5? its auto or manual?
FYI a high stall speed torque converter is good if all you are planning to do is 1/4 mile racing. If you are planning to drive it and want more power, remember significant power increases are very expensive. Stock E36s are not very fast but they do handle. Enjoy the handling. For drag racing many other cars are better suited.
High stall speed converter will allow the engine to reach a higher RPM when brake torquing. This puts the engine in a higher horsepower band so the car will launch harder. Drag cars might have 5-6,000 rpm converters. The down side is that the trans will generate much more heat. As well, because it is "looser" gas mileage will suffer since driving away from a stop sign will require more rpm to get moving. You will notice all new cars have a lock up torque converter so there is no slippage and better gas mileage.
