If any of you out there have done this, what kind of problems did you run into? Total cost? Final results? I checked the forum using search but there was not much there. I am looking for some really good info on this. Also, I have checked out Zionsville, but they did not give out much info on the actual swap.

Because its much cheaper to sell your car and buy a manual one.

Swapping ur 1998 318i to manual is proberly worth the total of ur car. Sell your car and with the money you were going to do a manual job get a 325i or a 328i

Since the point made above acnnot be stressed enough, here I go: sell your car and buy a manual (way more cost effective).

I found only one person here that was successful and he did it for 2500. If I were planning on keeping the car for eternity that would be ok, but I eventually want to get an e46. Thanks though.
