does anyone use the kickdown switch on an automatic, i found that bending mine away from the bottom of the pedal, i can now open my throttle all the way. any thoughts on the subject, i ask because my tranny has 150000 on it. i need safe, not speed. ya hear me!
I think all the kickdown pedal does is tell the transmission to go into sport mode (downshift and change shifting times) and the ECU to go WOT.
Removing it wont do any good I dont think. Try going WOT without pressing the kickdown switch, notice the transmission stays in regular mode and dosn't downshift immediately? (unless it's already at a low RPM)
I press it all the time, but thats just because I'm in manual mode and want all the acceleration my little 323 auto can get I typically either use the manual button or drop the shifter into 3 to switch the transmission into sport mode instead of waiting for it to go "Oh, he's going WOT now..." and downshift. In other words, I dont USE it.

what im saying, is that with the switch out of the way the throttle itself opens more, and it downshifts pretty promptly. whenever i hit the switch the warning gear with ! pops up, but goes away
A funny little thing...I have a bunch of Ricer friends who threw a lawnmower engine, excuse me, a "exhaust" cannister on their civics that were automatic. They punch the gas and go until it revs high, then left off to let the engine shift, then do it again through the other gears...basically, all they try and do is make it sound like a manual and its really funny...

Isn't cool......I'd tried to shift my manual like an auto, but it doesn't

Wait a min here, I have a sport switch next to my shifter, so what the hell is the kickdown for on my car then? just a second version of what I already have? what happens if i switch the sport mode on and THEN floor it?
I played around with mine a little today, it seems like it requires alot of force to put on... sorta like you'd have to STOMP on it to get it to go....
But how can I prevent it from blocking my throttle? Would the throttle go wider without it in place?
