Anyone Who Has A 93 325ic

i was told that the 92-98 body style convertible did not come out till 1994 but i am looking to buying this 93 325ic that is the body style of the 92-98..i have gone to look at it and he claims it to be a 93... does anyone know exactly when the 92-98 era convertables came out

He is saying it is a 1993 just go and check the door jam when you go look at it and that will tell you exactly what year it was because it has the production date inside the door jam. Like I said before 1993 ic is E30(that is the code for that body style) and 1994 ic is E36(the code for the non convertible 92-98). I would not take his word for it just go look for yourself. Most likely it is actually a 1994 but was made in like November or December of 1993. They last few months of production they call the next year.

i no what your sayin but even if it was made in Dec. or Nov. it would be considered a 94 model not 93, but ya for sure im going to check the door like you said
the other thign i was thinking was maybe there was alot of left over models from the previous model they stold both the E30 and E36 in the same year and the older models for much cheaper

another thing is in 1999 when the new 3series came out the convertiables did not coem out till the year after not two years...

i hope its a 94 but this guy is a machanic himself and he knows what hes talking about for sure i dont see why he would make a mistake like that.. i cant see it happening..

Do a search on the internet for 1993 325ic and 1994325ic. Or you can go to www.kbb.com which is KelleyBlueBook they will all show you a picture of the year.

As far as BMW doing some kindof special because they had leftover E30 cars is just improbable and wrong. Car companies make so many cars and sell them to dealers and such almost immediately. They would not sell 2 different cars as the same year.

The whole 1999 convertibles coming out in a year instead of two doesn't mean anything. A company does not follow a certain timeline for releasing things. They design and release new models on sales, technology increases, and changing markets. Trust me I have a Marketing degree.

I just looked at kbb.com and it shows the picture of the car for each year.
Anyone else please chime in. I know what I am talking about someone back me up.

I just thought about it and you should post your question in the E30 forum too, since i believe that the 1993 is an e30 you will probably find someone who has one there.

Thats fine, it is weird that the mechanic is saying 1993. Is it his personal car? I know that some mechanics will try and help sell other peoples cars or buy cars fix them up a bit and turn around and sell them. Sorry too, I didn't mean to rag on you.

I posted the question in E30 forum to see if anyone has a 1993 and can tell us more. I am 99% positive about the body styles, but it never hurts to get other opinions.

ya it is his own he has had it for a year now and if i go ahead and buy it i will be the 3rd owner... im going to check it out saturday and i will find out for sure if it a 93or94 and let you know
