Hi guys my 1994 325i temp guage does some funny things. I've noticed that the needle tends to get to the half way mark ,then it'll move back to the quarter mark , then back to the half. possibly a faulty thermostat? Any had this happen?

Do you have an M52? My '97 528i was doing a similar thing except it was going from 12 o'clock (normal) to the 3/4 mark. Traced it back to a faulty dual temperature sender which, on an M52, is found on the head under the inlet manifold. A new one fixed my problem.
