Is it possible to rebuild my engine and add a manual tranny and make it push 300HP for around $10-12,000
well i have 2 ideas already
1: get a bavengine 328 with the performance option, chip intake exhaust, obd1 conversion...? where would that get me hp wise? (bav engine gives you 20% hp gain)
2: rebuild my 325 with high performance internals...? chip intake exhaust, and a nice ratio manual tranny...(to change the ratio's of the gears would i have to change the diff or the gears or both or?)
Import a Euro spec M3 engine...then do all the rebuild mods...hahaha, you might be looking at 400+ at that point

The RON and MON ratings are totally different, European fuel and american fuel are different, putting one in another engien can cause excess wear +knocking & pinging.
For US AKI, the ratings is dependant on both RON & MON ratings. I don't know how to answer you guy's question of what octane is needed for the euro engine and what the difference betwen american gasoline & european gasoline is.
Part 3 has an in-depth explination of what octane is and why you should choose the correct octane isntead of the highest rating at the pump, you could be messing up the entine if you use the wrong octane if it knocks just a little bit. I've always bought mnid-grade, what the label on the gas door says to put in.
I think it doesn't bother to use US gas or European gas. The whole point is to use the right octane number. E.g. Shell is a Dutch/GB company which sells gas in the US too. The gas is the same but there is only a different rating (RON or MON) on the pump at the gas station.

There is a nice little table there. For american fuel see the PON numbers. You'll notice that US rated 94 is UK rated 98... any deficiency can be adjusted with simple octane booster additive.
The euro engine would work but there may be emission issues.
Why not take a 2.8, bore and stroke it to 3.3 with some nice new internals, breathing and fueling and see how things stack up. Or how about a 3.8 V8?
