Amp and exhaust

Quick question. Do all 318i come with factory amps, or was that a special package. I have a 93, if that matters

And one more thing. Im interested in getting a new exhaust so i can get a deep sporty sound, but im kinda low on cash, so is it possible to just buy the muffler and put it on yourself, or does that require welding a shop work? Srry for stupid questions but im a newbie.

Most 318s have no amp. If you have two speakers in the door then it does. If all you have is a tweeter then it doesn't.

It is possible to do a muffler yourself. First you'll need to get a hacksaw and cut the old muffler off. Then fit your new one and use some u-clamps (available at any auto parts store) and bolt the new muffler on. I would seriously recommend that you have it welded on at some point, as the hanging points on the old muffler will not be there on your aftermarket muffler.

Where is this mystery fatory amp located in your car?? what brand is it??

If the car is equipped with an amp, it is on the drivers side wall of the trunk behind the carpet. Don't know whom makes it.
