Alternator Hell

I have a 93 318is. The car will run great for a couple of days then die. I have had the battery tested. I charged it up, then I hooked a volt meter to the battery to check the alternator. I registered that it was charging then after a few minutes it stopped charging. I yanked the Alt out ran it to O'Rilleys and it Passed... I then went across the street to AutoZone with the same result. I noticed that the ground from the alt was bad, replaced that. Made sure all contacts were clean all over the car. Should I just get a new Alternator..... Help

Well if the alternator passed tests at two different places why would you replace it? You stated the ground was bad and you fixed it, but you didnt state wether or not that fixed the problem. Im going to assume not. How were you able to determine that it stopped charging?

Alternator Hell

Lord Vader, thanks for gettting back. Nasty habit of not being clearer.
I had the battery hooked up a freinds volt meter to the battery and when the car started up it was charging. After about 5 minutes the readout went from 13.75 or so and then dropped to 10.5. The belt was loose and I tightened it. I have not tested it again. it has been running ok since Saturday. I hope I am not inviting trouble. I am going to get a meter and check it. I will get back. Thanks
