yup did it to mine, i used the cig lighter, it is 12 volt and is constant power. my radar detector has a off and on switch so yea, if you know what your doing go for it but if you dont well you know the answer. plus try to solder if you can

doesnt really make a difference but i have a 1992 325i

imo after i had my radar detector its been pretty much useless but thats my opinion

well i was primarily talking about mounting it up on the windshield with the power coming from the sunroof

yes you can do it. I believe that there is a faq done up by elpresidente on how to do something very similar. I can not remember what he was actually powering with the wires near the sunroof. But perhaps he will see this post, or just PM him and he should be able to provide the link for the installation with very good pictures and instructions.
