This might sound stupid, but take in mind that I do not have an owner's manual, but where should I look for my alarm's module on my 1996 328is?

Mine is under the steering wheel, but I think it is aftermarket. I need to get itre-connected because the dealership disconnected it when I purchased my bmw.

The bmw unit is always intalled behind the dashboard
some dealers install this unit using velcros to hold it there, some will use a big freakeing nut that i can see it tip inside the glove compartment...
aniwway, the reason why they install the unit on that side is because there is a factoeryplug behing the glvoe compartment, where all the other brains of the car are. that plug goes for door locking mechanism and all the other things that the alarm unit needs. so for the dealer is a plug and play installation that i really think will take a mechaninc maximun of an 1 hour to do it. but for us they rip you for the part and isntallation, and if you want to buy just the unit and DIY, then they will trow the crap saying that if it fails is not covered under warranty because they did not intalled..
so much BS, I hate dealers by heart!!

well, bmw doesn't sell the module alone, they say I have to buy the all alarm kit. And the kit costs $400. For that price, I can get the best viper alarm system installed in my car with remote start and 2 way remote.

look for the original bmw alarm at bavauto.com they have the kit and is cheaper, if i remember.. yeah i know that with that money you can get something better, bnut im telling you, if you get the bmw alarm it will be the easiest installation, literaly plug and play, you might only have to program the remote, wich is not a big deal.

I've been looking into an alarm beause I'm now downtown at like 10 o'clock at night by myself walking to my car after class, also why I am considering my conceal and carry, anyways so my question is does a BMW alarm have the option of it like an "emergency" or "panic" button??
