Airbag Light At 75k Miles...coincidence?

Hola...I have a '99 323 is (its an e36...the coupe didn't change over til 2000) with just over 75K miles. Oddly, the airbag light came on almost immediately after I crossed that mark. Are they simply trying to get me to bring it to the dealership for a checkup, or is there a problem?

More than likely, the error message is gonna read "seatbelt failure". Are you having any problems with either of the seatbelt retractors? That was my ultimate cause, but the seatbelt latch does, in my opinion, have a pre-determined "failure" point. I replaced the driver's belt buckle, and the next day the car wanted the passenger one replaced, too..... ghead

Yep seat belt latch, or impact sensor is most likely the culprit. Hooking it up to a code reader should let you know what is going on.

Get her coded, if not the seat belt latch then probaly the clock spring (no joke). As to mileage, I think that is irrelevant.
