Air Bag Replacement

my buddy has a 97 323i whose airbags once upona time were deployed and he wants to get them replaced right now, the car has no airbags. and the steering wheel was changed. the dash board or anything shows no warnings or anyhting. what does he need to do other then buy the passanger airbag, steering wheel and air bag is there any sensors that need to be replaced?? any other info wwill be helpful, the car is fully repaired and he bought the car without airbags. any advice??

Well there are a few things... Seeing how it is a 97.. it has the BMW ZAE system... which is just a modified e36 system from the original back in 93.

This ZAE system has the following parts integrated.

Crash sensors.. front and left above wheel wells...
SRS modual
Passenger side airbag unit
Drivers airbag
Side impact airbags..(very few 4 doors in the later part of 97 and early 98)
ZAE control modual under rear seats
Knee bolsters...

What ever caused the air bag to deploy is probably fixed... the wires are probably still there... you probably just need to hook them back up.. and then figure out why the airbag light in the dash has been turned off... or the bulb back there has been diconnected.
