so my check engine light came on for no reason what so ever... my car runs just fine. I have no idea why its doing this to me. i dont have enough money to get it fixed, hopefully its nothing serious...

Okay. Now we know. Just have teh codes read at a local Autozone. It may not be anythign serious. Is your gas tank cap on tight?

Is your car OBD I? If it is you can just stick the key to the on positon with the car not started and pump the gas pedal five times and it will blink out the codes.

ya im hoping its just like on O2 sensor or a vacum hose. something i can do on my own for very little money.

i have had problems with my timing in the past so i know what it feels like and i am pretty sure it is not that. THANK GOD.

ok so i found out what it is... it is my purge control valve. i dont know much about this piticular part so please can someone shed some light on the matter... i need to know as much as possible

What code did you get? HWat Shahab is telling you is that the way to fix the purge valve code is to tighten your gas cap. I don't know if that is correct, but that is what he is telling you. Again, what code did you get?

i just tried the gas cap thing and it didnt work. the code is either P0440 or P0441. its something like purge control valve signal is weeak or something like that
