After Running Fast, Engine Makes Crackling Noise..

I have noticed that after my 328is is making a crackling noise after i turn it off... is this a problem or not, if it is what do i need to do? To be more specific it just sounds like it is cooling off but other cars dont seem to do this..

If it is what i think it is then it's just your exhaust cooling down and nothing with the engine.

But just to be sure dous it make this noise just the second you turn the engine off or you can hear it for a while when out of the car.

i have a 328is and mine does it everyitme i turn it off. i asked a mechanic and he said it was the manifold cooling down or some part of the exhaust...so no worries.

its more of a pinging noise, right?

ya like a ping...kinda like when you snap your fingers...its normal as long as its not comming from somewhere else

yea it does it for a little while after i turn off the car, just wanted to make sure it was cooling down... otherwise the car runs sound. Thanks for the fast replies!
