I know I want a 7 spoke "star" design, BMW is kind enough to offer this in a 16x7 version (style 45) and a 17x8 version (style 44). I prefer the look of style 44 better but the difference is pretty subtle. There is about $160 difference in cost for the rims (not including addtl cost for bigger tires). Basically, I am trying to decide which rims to get and would like your advice!

These are the 16x7s (style 45):

About me, my car, and my driving: I live in Washington DC where the roads are generally in terrible shape. I only drive about 3-5K miles per year in this car. I replaced the blown factory shocks with Bilstein heavy duty shocks last year but did not change other suspension components like the springs so it is still at stock height. I am currently on the 15 inch BBS-style mesh rims that came with the car. I have added a K&N air filter and a Jim Conforti/TMS chip.

I am aware of the tradeoff of the larger size providing better handling but also a harsher ride and more noise. I will probably run Kumho Ecsta ASXs with either sized rim. I am frankly torn about what to do. used

Finally, I am likely going to use this dealer, their prices are fantastic and they were personally recommended to me by another bimmer buff who is getting new 540i rims there. Any feedback on these guys would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

i don't particularly like any of them, but i like the 540 one's the most, and 17" deffinatly look the best. If your going to spend money on rims you're better getting 17's, by at least 7.5" wide, so you can comfortably fit 235's
