Acceleration / Transmission Problems - BMW Forum

I have a 95 325ic with 80k miles.
I have a problem whereby I am doing approx. 50mph on a freeway for instance and I try to accelerate quite rapidly.
Upon accleration, the car will drop a gear and the RPM's will increase as per normal, however, the RPM's won't sustain at the higher level, instead they fall to a much lower level, hence the car can't maintain power.
It is quite frustrating particularly when I need the power.
Sometimes with the accelerator at a constant level, the RPMs will oscillate between high and low, it's like the car is on the borderline of two gears and can't decide which gear to be in. It is like a threshold level or someting.
So I'm not sure how to approach this problem??

Sounds like it's time to change the tranny fluid..

Order a tranny gasket with microfilter and at the site pelicanparts.com they have a detailed description of how to do it. After recently doing it i would say if you havent done really any work with your car stay away frustrating job getting the pan trays back on
